Doulas are non-clinical support system, designed to complement the care provided by healthcare providers.
Emotional Support: Offer emotional reassurance, encouragement, and companionship to help reduce anxiety and fear.
Informational Support: Educate and inform parents-to-be about their options, choices, and birth plans, empowering them to make informed decisions.
Physical Comfort: Can provide gentle touch, massage, and positioning techniques to help alleviate pain and discomfort during labor.
Advocacy: Doulas advocate for the parents’ wishes and needs, ensuring their voice is heard in the birthing process.
Postpartum Support: Provides support during the postpartum period, helping with breastfeeding, newborn care, and adjusting to new parenthood.
